We love our stainless steel appliances, but with three little ones, even our "smudge resistant" brushed stainless steel ends up with streaks and smudges. The thought of paying for all of the stainless steel cleaner we would need to keep the appliances clean is NOT appealing to me, but fortunately we've found a great solution.
I now keep all of our appliances shiny with baby oil. I just put some on a dry rag, rub it over the surface of the stainless steel and then buff it off with a second dry cloth. You have to make sure to get any excess baby oil off (or it will attract lint), but it makes the surface nice and shiny and also helps guard against fingerprints. I usually wipe them with a dry rag midweek just to help keep them looking clean, but I only "clean" them once a week or so. Every few weeks, we clean them with Windex and then start the process all over again.

Huh, very good to know! I've avoided stainless steel appliances for that very reason. Does it work for dog nose-prints too?
Well that is a great tip. I can't stand the smudges on the stainless steel.. Thanks!!
Whodathunk? Great tip! Off to try it now!
Great tip! I needed this!
Great tip! Love stainless steel, but hate the smudges.
Awesome tip! We bought stainless steel before we had kids and now...well, let's just say our kitchen often looks like the folks from CSI came through looking for prints. So, I can't wait to try this tip!
